MY FAVOURITE

This is my favourite, red as I said, it is very comfortable to wear. It has no catches to snag in clothing and is very light,
I love red!

COLOURS

Decided to knit a few bracelets in other colours, blue seems to be the colour that people like this year and surprisingly green is very popular. Both bracelets are wide and are more like a cuff which is very comfortable, just slips onto the wrist. I love red myself and it is very tempting to knit more in red.

silver wire knitted bracelet

When you look at this, you think, plain, but therein hides a secret! There are four layers of close knitting and then stitched together paying close attention to the edges, a lot of work!
But - one satisfied customer - great!

commission finished

Finally finished the jewellery order I got a short while ago. There was quite a lot of knitting in it as I had to knit four layers in order to make the bracelet stiff which took some time to do. The catch was another problem, I spent many hours on the internet trying to source the catches I had in mind for this bracelet and finally found more or less what I wanted in Dublin! I have since found a site in Australia and have sent for some silver catches which have not arrived yet. There are some more ornate catches on the site but I will wait and see what arrives from my first order before I go mad and order more! Anyway my customer was delighted with the bracelet which made all the hard work worth it.

Now to the next project!

knitting

As you can see from the title of my blog, I knit jewellery.

I was rooting around on the internet one night when I couldn't sleep, and found an image of a knitted beaded cuff and really liked the look of it and thought I would really like one for myself, then had a second thought, I could make that! So I then began to produce jewellery.

It has been a long and interesting journey to this point and I am still learning and sourcing materials. I had not seen this type of jewellery in the shops so had to send away for books and patterns and it has been fascinating. The clasps and wire have been especially difficult to get as I want the finished product to look right and I think just recently I have found the clasps I want. Now I am going to try and source sterling silver wire. I knit with very fine wire but it is still very harsh on my hands but the results are pleasing.

I work part time in a gallery and often knit and am asked "what are you knitting?" I get some strange looks when I reply jewellery!
